System Requirements for ITAutomated
Prepare a secure Windows administration workstation or management server before installing ITAutomated. Core application requirements and feature-specific prerequisites are separated below so that you only install the components required for the modules you intend to use.
Supported Windows
Windows desktop or Windows Server with Desktop Experience.
Windows x64
The current application package is built for 64-bit Windows.
.NET Included
The complete build is self-contained; no separate .NET runtime is required.
PowerShell 5.1
Required for compatibility with Citrix SDKs and Microsoft RSAT modules.
Install ITAutomated on a dedicated, domain-connected administration workstation or management server with Desktop Experience. Use a named administrator account with only the delegated permissions required for the selected functions.
Supported Windows Platform
ITAutomated is a Windows desktop application and requires a graphical Windows session.
Use a Windows edition that remains supported by Microsoft and has current cumulative security updates installed. A graphical Desktop Experience is required; Server Core and Nano Server are not supported.
Hardware Requirements
Allow additional capacity when querying large Citrix or Active Directory environments.

- Display: 1366 × 768 resolution
- Network: Stable connection to managed services
Best User Experience
- Processor: Modern 4-core or better 64-bit processor
- Memory: 16 GB RAM or more
- Storage: 2 GB available space plus report capacity
- Display: 1920 × 1080 resolution or higher
- Network: Low-latency LAN and reliable internet access
Required Software
The complete Windows package includes the application runtime but relies on Windows administration components.
.NET 10 application runtime
The full ITAutomated Windows package is published as a self-contained application. Customers do not need to install a separate .NET runtime.
Windows PowerShell 5.1
ITAutomated uses the built-in 64-bit Windows PowerShell 5.1 host for compatibility with installed Citrix SDKs, snap-ins and Microsoft RSAT modules.
Current Windows security updates
Install the latest approved cumulative updates, trusted root certificates and security fixes for the selected Windows operating system.
Citrix SDK and Microsoft RSAT components
Only install the management components required by the ITAutomated modules you intend to use. Detailed module requirements are listed below.
Administrative Permissions
ITAutomated uses the permissions of the signed-in Windows administrator and connected service accounts.
Network and Service Access
The administration computer must be able to resolve and reach each managed platform.
DNS and domain connectivity
Forward and reverse DNS resolution must work for domain controllers, Citrix components, VDAs, RDS licence servers and other selected targets.
Outbound HTTPS
Allow outbound HTTPS access where Citrix Cloud authentication, product licensing, updates or other cloud-connected functions are used.
Management protocols
Allow the Microsoft and Citrix management protocols required by the chosen operation, including remote PowerShell, WMI/CIM, RPC or administrative shares.
Proxy and inspection
Configure approved proxy access and certificate trust where outbound traffic is inspected. Do not bypass organisational security controls.
Module-Specific Prerequisites
Expand a module to see its management components and access requirements.
- Citrix DaaS Remote PowerShell SDK installed and available to Windows PowerShell 5.1.
- A valid Citrix DaaS authentication profile for the signed-in administrator.
- Appropriate Citrix Cloud delegated administrator permissions.
- Outbound HTTPS access to the required Citrix Cloud services.
- Matching Citrix PowerShell SDK or management snap-ins installed.
- DNS and network access to the Citrix Delivery Controllers.
- A delegated Citrix administrator account for the selected operation.
- Compatible TLS and certificate trust between the management computer and Citrix services.
- Microsoft RSAT Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Services tools.
- Microsoft RSAT DNS Server tools for DNS discovery and cleanup functions.
- Domain connectivity and working DNS resolution from the administration computer.
- Delegated permissions to read or change the selected directory and DNS objects.
- DNS and network access to each configured Remote Desktop licence server.
- Permissions to query RDS licensing information on the target servers.
- Required Windows management protocols allowed by local and network firewalls.
- Matching server names and versions configured in ITAutomated Settings.
- The relevant Citrix SDK or management modules for each selected component.
- Network access to Delivery Controllers, Cloud Connectors, StoreFront, FAS and PVS targets.
- Read permissions sufficient to collect configuration and inventory information.
- Available local storage for generated Word, HTML, CSV and JSON reports.
- Remote administration enabled and approved for the target computers.
- WinRM, WMI/CIM, RPC or administrative-share access where required by the selected workflow.
- Local administrator or delegated rights on the remote target where the action requires them.
- Any script-specific prerequisites displayed inside the selected ITAutomated tool.
Unsupported Environments
The following platforms are outside the current ITAutomated support scope.
